Journal Four: Together Works
In the winter of 2025, I was invited to exhibit at a very special Christmas exhibition. Hosted by jeweller Romilly Saumarez Smith in her magnificent East London home, Together Works brought together Romilly and seven jewellers who have worked with her over the years: Carola Solcia, Rachel Jones, Anna Wales, Laura Ngyou, Lucie Gledhill, Roanne Sanchez-Watts, and myself.
I first stepped into Romilly’s home three years ago. Since then, my weekly visits to work with Romilly have become something I truly look forward to: the Edwardian walls, the gentle hum of tiny drill bits from the jewellery studio upstairs, glistening diamond beads and iridescent ammonites scattered across Romilly’s desk. Her practice – her instinctive way with materials, openness to imperfection, and the narrative found in every detail - has deeply influenced the way I approach my own work.
I was thrilled to show my work in such special company, especially within this home, shaped with the same sensitivity as Romilly’s jewellery. It was a memorable exhibition, and here are a few photographs I took to capture its unique atmosphere.
